Mostly I am hoping to add some pre-defined tasks, such as running pacman -Syu or apt-get upgrade. How I see it, that would make it really easy to setup and provide a nice ease of use similair to topgrade.
Although I do think your script it easier to understand, I think that adding the other features, such as retry-upon-failure, header printing, and summary at the end are features harder to implement and maintain in such a bash script. I feel like it's a bit similar to why you'd want to use tools like make and Just compared to a bash script.
