  tbaMUD is the continued development of the codebase formerly known as CircleMUD.

Thanks. Despite CircleMud getting re-licensed under LGPL two years ago, TbaMud hasn't been able to follow suit, so far. They need to contact a bunch of authors who have contributed code and get their consent. Tracking some of them proved impossible, so after 2 years, it looks like they've abandoned the idea. Its probably more of academic interest than anything else, but the original Essex MUD (aka MUD1, British Legends) is available with source code and source mudlib using a GNU 3 licence. The downside is you will need a Dec PDP10 to run it. https://github.com/PDP-10/MUD1
