Console clients need a hacky workaround to connect, using DNS manipulation such as BedrockConnect because they do not have an option to specify a custom IP to connect to. Note that this does not apply to the mobile edition of Bedrock, since it does have a custom IP option.

For what it's worth, if you're willing to run your own server you can use the Geyser plugin on a Java server to allow Bedrock clients to join.
