yabridge lets you run the vast majority of Windows plugins like native Linux ones. If you send a project to someone using Windows or vice-versa it will even load the plugin states with no issues. You just install the Windows plugins with WINE, tell yabridge where to find them and sync.
Another advocate here for Reaper and Renoise. Reaper is very powerful, has an absolute shitload of free community-driven extras, such as ReaPack and JS plugins etc, and is much better at handling Windows VSTs. That said, Renoise is as solid as a rock if you use LADSPA plugins (and also very fun to use).
