Shitty documentation as a way to encourage paid usage

This page summarizes the projects mentioned and recommended in the original post on /r/selfhosted

Our great sponsors
  • InfluxDB - Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale
  • WorkOS - The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS
  • SaaSHub - Software Alternatives and Reviews
  • Monica

Personal CRM. Remember everything about your friends, family and business relationships.

Well ... There is always shitty documentation .. but OP made the claim it's bound to a pay wall ... And I tried his first "example" and it took me two clicks from the mainpage to get to a very well documented page: https://github.com/monicahq/monica/blob/main/docs/installation/providers/docker.md

  • docker

docker image of Monica (by monicahq)

I dont't know anything about monicahq, but looking at the docker hub page, they have a section talking about using monicahq with a reverse proxy that references a lot of ready to run examples.

  • InfluxDB

Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale. Get real-time insights from all types of time series data with InfluxDB. Ingest, query, and analyze billions of data points in real-time with unbounded cardinality.

  • elasticsearch

    DEPRECATED; https://github.com/docker-library/official-images/pull/15808 (by docker-library)

elasticsearch doesn't give any information on configuration variables on the Docker Hub page. Their documentation only shows how to connect to ElasticCloud with their js client. Their docker-compose example is hilariously complex.

  • examples

Home for Elasticsearch examples available to everyone. It's a great way to get started. (by elastic)

Their official repo has also hundreds of different examples, the closest one to what you need would be this one. All of this, is for people "self hosting". When using the cloud version, you don't need to do any of this.

  • Elasticsearch

Free and Open, Distributed, RESTful Search Engine

Also if you are SO annoyed, you can EDIT their documentation and submit a pull request. Here is the document.

  • WorkOS

The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS. The APIs are flexible and easy-to-use, supporting authentication, user identity, and complex enterprise features like SSO and SCIM provisioning.

NOTE: The number of mentions on this list indicates mentions on common posts plus user suggested alternatives. Hence, a higher number means a more popular project.
