My actual recommendation is: Use an application like "Bulk Crap Uninstaller" or "Revo Uninstaller Free" in the moment you want to uninstall a program, that will take care of removing any unnecessary traces they might leave behind, including registry entries. With that you will have more than enough to keep your PC running well without crap behind. CCleaner is unnecessary and questionable. And forget about any "optimization" they promise those type of programs.
