I've been using TubeArchivist to mirror channels lately. The description and some of the metadata are saved within the TubeArchivist database. The video and optional subtitles get saved to disk.
A web client that scrapes YouTube comments
youtube-dl can't scrape comments if you're interested in those. I once used this, but it appears to be discarded and I doubt it works anymore. I've heard of people getting IP banned for scraping comments, so beware if you want to do that.
