Brave is foss code. So to make a very generalized statement, it can be trusted at a technical level to not be an evil honeypot. At least more-so than Chrome or Edge. This is because you can validate at the source-code level that there is nothing dangerous.

I lasted ~3 years on FF, but I think Chrome is just too good in terms of performance and the fact that virtually all modern websites are created with Chrome in mind. I recommend trying out: https://github.com/ungoogled-software/ungoogled-chromium
