Studying documentation is kind of mandatory when using vim/neovim, even for basic features. But I do agree that creating a configuration for autocompletion + lsp is harder than it should. I even created a plugin for this exact reason, lsp-zero.nvim, to bundle that configuration some people have a hard time creating.
