  • For 3, I'm talking about this: https://github.com/monero-project/monero/blob/master/src/hardforks/hardforks.cpp. When we hard fork, we don't get to remove the old code from the codebase. We have to support the scanning of those old blocks forever. Grep the codebase for usage of that hardforks file and you'll see it adds quite a bit of complexity. If we simply deleted blocks older than X years, we could drop all code relating to those older versions as they pass the horizon and simplify the codebase significantly.
