  • OCRmyPDF

OCRmyPDF adds an OCR text layer to scanned PDF files, allowing them to be searched

  • After a little digging, OCRmyPDF seems pretty solid. OCRmyPDF adds a layer of "text" on your written text pdf, making it searchable. However, it does suffer from low handwriting recognition accuracy, giving me gibberish for most my handwriting notes. I do think the accuracy will improve if you can train your personal OCR engine (yep, tesseract) as documented here. It may require significant amount of time and effort, but it'll be fun and your "personal engine" will grow old with you.
