It is an open source project, this is its github site. If you have the right know-how, you can check the source code if it is safe to use or not. It is still maintained. If you want the newest version, you need to compile it yourself from source. I suppose a reason why there is no new binary yet, means, the 2020 version still works properly and barely has any holes/bugs.
