  • Get better projects. If you have little work experience, it can be hard to prove that you're good at software development. So go build more interesting projects to put on your resume. ... wait what are you doing? No! Don't go searching Medium for React tutorials! Bad uw student! *slaps you on the wrist* I said interesting projects – everyone has a React/HTML/CSS project on their resume and you are doing yourself zero favours by joining the crowd. Sure there are a lot of web dev jobs out there, but recruiters understand that anyone who knows how to code can be a web dev. The same does not apply to C++ developers, or iOS developers, or machine learning developers, etc. – in some cases they are easy to pick up (e.g. iOS) but an employer is much more likely to take the person who has previous iOS experience over the noob. This might also be controversial, but I don't think your side projects need to be entirely yours. I haven't done it myself (because I was a dumb frosh) but I would personally be okay with claiming that I "built" something when it was really a tutorial I followed. Just be ready to explain it to the interviewer in detail in case they ask. https://github.com/practical-tutorials/project-based-learning
