There is an excellent project for adding OCR to PDFs called OCRmyPDF ( https://github.com/ocrmypdf/OCRmyPDF ). With it you can batch OCR PDFs many thousands of pages in size and have it attempt to detect and correct page orientation and skew. It is my favorite PDF tool.
