[Meta] Remove the Proprietary Automod already

This page summarizes the projects mentioned and recommended in the original post on /r/linux

Our great sponsors
  • WorkOS - The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS
  • InfluxDB - Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale
  • SaaSHub - Software Alternatives and Reviews
  • gimp

    Read-only mirror of https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp

  • GIMP might not have been the best example. They already are on Gitlab. The Github repo is just a read-only mirror, and they even have issues disabled on there (presumably in order to focus all the relevant discussion to Gitlab).

  • reddit-moderator-bot

A reddit bot that uses plugins

  • They can use this project https://github.com/gc-plp/reddit-moderator-bot

  • WorkOS

The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS. The APIs are flexible and easy-to-use, supporting authentication, user identity, and complex enterprise features like SSO and SCIM provisioning.

  • linux

    Linux kernel source tree

  • Better tell Linus to stop using GitHub to develop Linux: https://github.com/torvalds/linux

  • LinuxSubredditRules

This is the repository for suggesting and improving the rules for /r/Linux on reddit.

  • The hypocrisy: https://github.com/CAPNAMENOWUPVOTE/LinuxSubredditRules

  • Lemmy

🐀 A link aggregator and forum for the fediverse

  • They are talking about a federated alternative to reddit called Lemmy. Rather than being a monolithic, centralised social media platform like reddit, Lemmy is a network of smaller instances which communicate and share content amongst themselves. Users on one instance can see content and posts from users on other instances. Anyone can host their own instance, or join one which accepts new users.

  • sway

    i3-compatible Wayland compositor

  • While I am not a fan of the bot in any way, technically speaking, SwayWM was handed off by Drew to someone else two years ago: https://drewdevault.com/2020/10/23/Im-handing-wlroots-and-sway-to-Simon.html. So while Sway is still being developed on Github, Drew is not actually being hypocritical here. He was true to his words and went and started Sourcehut.

NOTE: The number of mentions on this list indicates mentions on common posts plus user suggested alternatives. Hence, a higher number means a more popular project.
