This page summarizes the projects mentioned and recommended in the original post on news.ycombinator.com

Our great sponsors
  • WorkOS - The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS
  • InfluxDB - Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale
  • SaaSHub - Software Alternatives and Reviews
  • sourcegraph

Code AI platform with Code Search & Cody

  • QEMU

  • Qualcomm | Austin, TX, USA | Full Time | ONSITE | QEMU

    https://qualcomm.wd5.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/External/job/Se...

My team is looking to hire 2 software developers to help us design and extend QEMU support [1] for the Hexagon DSP [2]. We're looking for candidates who have experience coding in C, C++ or Rust* and who aren't afraid of rolling up their sleeves and poring over disassembled code. This particular architecture is a bit more challenging than most, because it's a bit unique. It's a VLIW [3], so it's a great opportunity to learn about an interesting architecture. Millions of Hexagon DSPs are out there, most are found in Snapdragon SoCs for Android phones and more!

We collaborate a lot with Open Source communities like QEMU, LLVM [4], the Linux kernel [5], and more. I love being able to work on Open Source software at my day job.

If you have any questions, you can contact me directly (email addr is in my HN user link). If you like the idea of working on stuff like open source toolchains but QEMU is not your thing, let me know. There’s other opportunities too.

It may be possible to make this position r_emote -- for the right candidate.

    * Rust experience may serve the role well but we don’t (yet) have any product software in Rust.

  • orchest

Build data pipelines, the easy way 🛠️

  • Orchest | Front-end Engineer | The Netherlands | Full-Time | Fully remote (UTC +-3)

Orchest lets data scientists focus on what matters. It’s our mission to free data science teams from infrastructure tasks and complexity. We make the data platform team obsolete by automating the plumbing and making it easy to work in a cloud native way as a data scientist.

Today, we’re focused on drastically simplifying how batch data science pipelines are built by focusing on intuitive abstractions, seamless integration of the canonical open source data science stack (e.g. Jupyter notebook support), and single-click productionization.

To that end we’re looking for a Frontend/TypeScript Engineer that will help us develop the user facing parts. Are you someone that gets excited thinking about combining a clean React based component hierarchy, TypeScript, Web Workers, and CRDT sync to create a perfect user experience?

We raised ($4M+) from top investors like Gradient Ventures (Google) and Basis Set Ventures (SF-based AI & ML fund). In addition, we're a fully remote company (team of 8, ex-NUMFocus, ex-GitLab) with async communication to allow everyone to get into flow state and do their best work.

More details about our open source project can be found here: https://github.com/orchest/orchest or check out our AngelList listing https://angel.co/company/orchest/jobs

Interested? Reach out to me at rick@orchest.io.

Our team builds and maintains a highly-scalable, flexible distributed cluster orchestrator. Nomad helps teams run varied workloads including containers, VMs, and raw binaries. Cloudflare, PagerDuty, Roblox, Pandora, and many other large organizations run Nomad in production today.

We are currently looking for both backend and frontend engineers interested in solving hard problems in the DevOps space, tackling interesting distributed systems challenges, and/or working on open source software.

Our stack: Golang & Ember (experience in either is nice to have, but not a hard requirement)

At Gruntwork, we aim to improve humanity's most important invention: Software. Our product enables software teams to launch and maintain production-grade cloud infrastructure in days, not months.

We create the building blocks that devs and DevOps engineers can use to make launching in the cloud 10x better / faster / easier. We think of our work as creating a new paradigm for how DevOps can be done, one that leverages the insight that so many companies re-invent so much of the foundations that software engineers need to build and launch their apps. We work with AWS, K8s, Terraform, Go, Typescript, and React, and introduce new tech as needed. We’re a small team (~15 people), but our clients include Toyota, Adobe, TicketMaster, Verizon, and lots of startups.

We are profitable, self-funded (no investors, no debt), pay salaries, equity, and bonuses according to transparent formulas, and are very focused on building a company we're proud of. We are 100% remote, with 2/3 of our team in the USA and 1/3 in Europe. We have company-wide in-person meetups every few months. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds.

Our measure of a successful Grunt is (1) think like an owner, (2) make impact, (3) communicate effectively, (4) be a good person. If this sounds like you, we're hiring!
