So I ended up just taking a look at QuickWit's s3 storage backend seeing that the blob storage backend is their bread and butter, what's good enough for them is good enough for me :)
We have plans to migrate to the official aws sdk https://github.com/awslabs/aws-sdk-rust, we will do it probably this year.
