I just converted a pretty large UWP app to WinUI 3 and Windows App SDK. I had trouble with calling ShowAsync() on a custom ContentDialog until I found this article that said you need to set XamlRoot: https://github.com/microsoft/microsoft-ui-xaml/issues/2504
