If, on the other hand, we're talking about an Application level DDoS where a lot of users accessess your website and exhaust it just by their sheer numbers and all of the mass-crawling your website it's a completely different matter. As others point out, this can be fought by using a CDN provider like Cloudflare. The thing is that anti-DDoS is not available on Cloudflare's free tier. So therefore I'll suggest another solution called CrowdSec.
