I'm currently using web3.storage which acts as the gateway and also uploads the files to the filecoin network. They were quick to implement, but there are others that do the same. Ideally, there is no middleman and we just upload to our own ipfs cluster and then use filecoin and similar solutions directly to backup the data too. Once the files are uploaded, including a metadata file the CID is index on the blockchain.

I am currently using gallery-dl for media, and subreddit-archiver for posts and comments. There are probably better ways, but they were both easy to set up and get going
