tl;dr: conda is a package manager like pip, except it can install those C packages that pip cannot, while conda-forge is a community-maintained channel where people can upload recipes to easily install packages using conda (I wrote a longer explanation of this on my blog). For example, you can install the framework I'm working on with conda install ploomber -c conda-forge
