I'd to suggest to you the D programming language (perhaps even in -betterC mode, which might be more appropriate for the way you seem to want to write software). Though I don't have much or any experience with other languages like Nim, Zig, and Odin, based on what I've seen of them, I wouldn't scoff at them either. A lot of languages really are just terrible, but we do have some newer tools that are making big strides in solving their baggage, C's especially. A look into them will show just how much there is to improve on.
