If you want to actually try this procedure keep in mind there are a few gotchas I didn't mention. E.g. the FS you're moving the system to needs to preserve Unix permissions, symlinks, ... exactly; something like NTFS will break everything. I used a Borg snapshot. I also left out a few steps (you'll need to edit fstab to account for the new partition layout, ...).
