Apple has generally been pretty good about open source. Their OSs use a lot of open source code and they regularly contribute changes upstream (AFAIK). You can see a list of this, as well as look at the exact source code used in their products here. Also, they're pretty open to open sourcing their own projects. Both OpenCL and Clang/LLVM started as in-house projects that they released publicly as open source, and they even open source their kernel (though it's not GPL compatible). Honestly, before Microsoft improved immensely over the last few years in terms of open source support, I would have easily said that Apple was the commercial company that was supporting open source the most.
