If you'd like to give it a look, so far the most successful social network that is not built with profit as motivation seems to be Mastodon. It's open source, decentralized and I've heard it described as being sonewhat lioe Twitter, but your feed is just a chonological order of the posts from accounts you're subscribed to. Also LBRY as an alternative to YouTube.

If you like, you might want to try out NewPipe, it's an unofficial open source YouTube client for Android, and beyond other useful things, you can customize your homepage and disable video suggestions if you so wish. (And it's generally a better experience IMO)
on Linux/Windows/MacOS I'm like 90% sure you can do that with FreeTube.
