  • Okay, but how do you choose? Well, sometimes it may be obvious by the file's name (i.e., you can probably hide the ice and snow related files in Tamrielic, from what you've said). Other times, it may not be obvious at all. You can use DDS viewer and/or Nifskope to view the files on your desktop. DDS viewer works on textures, Nifskope works on meshes. You can view meshes with textures applied in Nifskope by expanding the items on the left and selecting the appropriate textures on the bottom-left - just make sure not to save your changes, or your meshes won't load textures in in-game! Sometimes, though, you'll just have to load in to Skyrim and test- see how things look with one set of textures active, then see how they look with the other.
