We're also interested in having a package done as part of the official CI builds (though probably not of every commit) - this is what feature request https://github.com/aferrero2707/gimp-appimage/issues/9 is about, but given that maintenance of the repository has not been done for quite some time, it is doubtful whether this will progress, either. If you want to help with this as well and thus have a good way to pull an official AppImage from, let us know.

AM
An "AUR-inspired" Database of AppImage packages and a CLI to manage/install/update them system-wide! This repo lists 1900+ standalone apps for GNU/Linux. You can extend it with custom repositories, create your own installation scripts and even build AppImages on the fly! "AM" Application Manager: Easy to use like APT and Powerful like PacMan!
UPDATE: I've finally solved by adding GIMP2_PLUGINDIR as an environment variable into the AppRun script, the installation script is linked here https://github.com/ivan-hc/AM-application-manager/blob/main/programs/x86_64/gimp, you can test yourself into a terminal:

If I have time enough, I wanna try to create a script that automatizes all the processes, also for you developers, but my knowledge is limited to the download of packages from Debian and derivatives or from Arch Linux to create these structures, I'm not much good in compiling these programs by myself into a chroot, I'm just an enthusiast.
