  • I have found a few other possible solutions using things like set_toplevel on both nodes and another solution posted by a user which touches the Transform2D https://github.com/2nafish117/godot-interpolation-demo, which looks completely different than lawnjellys approach but seems cleaner in theory and doesn't dictate structure as far as I can tell.
