In case anybody still wanted to use xboxdrv to make gamepads work in Wine, but finds the upstream version lacking, for example by waiting one minute before it starts working, so needs to compile an updated version, which should be this one: https://github.com/zerojay/xboxdrv.
However, xboxdrv was not needed for me. I just needed to run AntiMicroX with my IPEGA SW038B gamepad attached (via Bluetooth, in Android mode) to produce a keymap that can be used like this:
