This page summarizes the projects mentioned and recommended in the original post on /r/linuxquestions

Our great sponsors
  • WorkOS - The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS
  • InfluxDB - Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale
  • SaaSHub - Software Alternatives and Reviews
  • Home Manager using Nix

Manage a user environment using Nix [maintainer=@rycee]

  • I would probably try Arch, but try nix with https://github.com/nix-community/home-manager to manage your dot files. Home-manager is essentially nix-lite, it's NixOS for a user.

  • nixpkgs

    Nix Packages collection & NixOS

  • Microsoft fonts are part of the corefonts package.

  • WorkOS

The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS. The APIs are flexible and easy-to-use, supporting authentication, user identity, and complex enterprise features like SSO and SCIM provisioning.

  • NUR

Nix User Repository: User contributed nix packages [maintainer=@Mic92]

  • That's another difference between Arch and Nix. With nix, you can freely extend the package with your personal, work, hobby, or someone else's packages. Technically, the analogous of AUR would be the NUR, although, it's much less used than AUR. However, there's not as much need to use a user repository, when the official one has some 68k packages in it, compared to Arch's 10k.

NOTE: The number of mentions on this list indicates mentions on common posts plus user suggested alternatives. Hence, a higher number means a more popular project.
