I mix languages all the time really. I have a website with a c# asp.net core backend and angular front end. But to answer your question, this came originally from backend work I was doing in python, I started playing with tkinter and seen a fellow dev playing with WPF and this material UI package so I wanted to try it. I'm not impressed with it now, the amount of work needed seems not worth it but it was also intended and used by Windows stack users so it made sense for them.
