  • As for my opinions about the others, I wrote my thoughts about Visual Studio in my other comment (in short it's good but feels too bloated). Then I tried VS Code which is kind of the opposite, it's not "bloated" enough. It's a really good text editor and very useful for coding in different languages, but for C/C++ you have to do a lot of initial configuration to get building, compiling, running and debugging to work. It's more difficult on Windows which doesn't come with GCC (after trying different options I found that Scoop is an easy way to install GCC on Windows). After that you have to get some VS Code plug-ins to make the experience smoothe;, but to me, it still doesn't feel quite as smooth as a dedicated IDE. But still it's a great advanced text editor and many people would appreciate its flexibility. I just don't think it's the best for beginners.
