This is the one I’ve been using. https://github.com/claytonjn/hass-circadian_lighting I actually have my lights at full “cool” for the whole morning and then use this for the rest of the day. I like cool daylight for the morning, don’t like the ramp up.
What problems are you having? I'm not so sure as I don't run it on Pi. If you have an old computer you can just run it on that, just the power usage might be high. But if you have a computer from ~2011 forward it should be rather efficient anyway. And you could likely setup a virtual machine hypervisor on there, meaning you could run plenty of other things other than Home Assistant, such as NextCloud, Plex, BitWarden, or anything on this insane list.
I don't have a million hue devices so changing the polling interval down to 2 sec from HA to the Hue Hub has been working great without any drawbacks.
