Definitely. As you've already discovered from others, you use the Google Drive (REST) API to do this. Two alternatives are available from Google Apps Script (backend JS apps hosted in Google's cloud): a) built-in service — higher-level object library (vs. HTTP, REST, API), b) advanced service — thin wrapper around REST API.
