Is it possible to create a website that uses MediaWiki and also can be hosted on a personal computer?

This page summarizes the projects mentioned and recommended in the original post on /r/selfhosted

Our great sponsors
  • WorkOS - The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS
  • InfluxDB - Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale
  • SaaSHub - Software Alternatives and Reviews
  • Wiki.js

Wiki.js | A modern and powerful wiki app built on Node.js

I don't mean to be nosy, but Mediawiki is a very good platform for megaprojects that need to scale to millions of users. For small homey wikis there are way simpler options. I was considering running a self hosted wiki at work for a bit, and did some research and this is what, IMHO, suited our profile better: https://js.wiki/

  • Joplin

Joplin - the secure note taking and to-do app with synchronisation capabilities for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS.

Is MediaWiki possibly overkill? Something as simple as Joplin might work just as well for you.

  • WorkOS

The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS. The APIs are flexible and easy-to-use, supporting authentication, user identity, and complex enterprise features like SSO and SCIM provisioning.
