Poof! 2-way secure data sync/backup/restore against a cloud drive (by poof-backup)

The current release uses `rm -P` and `srm` because there's no simple way of wiping SSDs, and most modern systems come with SSDs instead of HDDs. There are a number of issues open on GitHub (https://github.com/poof-backup/poof/issues) that we use as placeholders for dev branches and to collect information about tools for SSD wiping. We are looking at things like https://www.howtogeek.com/425232/how-to-securely-delete-files-on-linux/ but we find that SSD block level wiping has strong vendor and non-portable SSD dependencies.

  • rclone

"rsync for cloud storage" - Google Drive, S3, Dropbox, Backblaze B2, One Drive, Swift, Hubic, Wasabi, Google Cloud Storage, Yandex Files

poof! is a purpose-specific wrapper around the robust Rclone tool, optimized for fast copy/sync, local files and directories wipe, one-time setup, and simple ongoing execution, either user-initiated or via a scheduler like launchd or cron.

  • WorkOS

The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS. The APIs are flexible and easy-to-use, supporting authentication, user identity, and complex enterprise features like SSO and SCIM provisioning.
