CMV: Google Earth Engine would be much easier to use/learn with an API in a statically-typed language

  • SurveyJS - Open-Source JSON Form Builder to Create Dynamic Forms Right in Your App
  • WorkOS - The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS
  • InfluxDB - Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale
  • TypeScript

TypeScript is a superset of JavaScript that compiles to clean JavaScript output.

  • Many JS IDEs use TypeScript behind the scenes wherever possible, even if the code you're writing is regular JavaScript. It doesn't look like any TypeScript definitions exist for Earth Engine, though. Weird; at this point I thought every big JS shop was using TypeScript.

  • earthengine-api

Python and JavaScript bindings for calling the Earth Engine API.

  • It seems like most of the type information is handled server-side, so I'm not sure if that would be feasible. I might be looking in the wrong place, but e.g. this source for ee.List makes no mention of the methods ee.List actually has, and the awkward type errors you get seem to be server-side.

  • SurveyJS

Open-Source JSON Form Builder to Create Dynamic Forms Right in Your App. With SurveyJS form UI libraries, you can build and style forms in a fully-integrated drag & drop form builder, render them in your JS app, and store form submission data in any backend, inc. PHP, ASP.NET Core, and Node.js.
