  • The last project I worked on for a large metropolitan agency was a case in point. The original developer assigned to project did everything in asp.net/mssql. Then that developer left the agency and the developer they re-assigned project to was more comfortable with node so instead of adding to the asp.net endpoints he setup another api in node and another database in mongodb and added all new features in parallel to the original system. This monstrosity was handed to me for another round of changes as the dev hit a point where he couldn't get away with his approach and I patched it up to a point where it worked and client was happy but the code is an awful mess and would take some time to refactor it to a point where it was good (and easy to understand for the next guy) but clients want their handful of feature requests added as cheap and quick as possible and the pressure is on me to meet brief in the quickest way.

  • WorkOS

The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS. The APIs are flexible and easy-to-use, supporting authentication, user identity, and complex enterprise features like SSO and SCIM provisioning.
