You don't even need an overpriced McBook and you can make great music with a free DAW (I personally recommend LMMS). Off course, gear is not completely unimportant and it is a very good step in the right direction, that you are moving away from producing on your cell phone. But in the grand scheme of things, you should focus on theory/talent/production and not on gear.
