  • How-To-Secure-A-Linux-Server

An evolving how-to guide for securing a Linux server.

  • to learn about VPS honestly I don't know of a single complete guide, although you can probably find one by yourself out there. but my personal progress went like this: first of all, learn about the Linux structure (not anything too complex, just how folders structures work, permissions, groups) and also basic Linux commands (mkdir, rm, ls, bash, ...). then learn about APT and how to install packages and update the system, or add external repositories (such as nodeJS). then learn about nginx/apache and reverse proxies, with the UFW (ubuntu's firewall). finally, look at this awesome guide on how to secure your server: How to Secure a Linux Server. you don't need to do everything on there, but it definitely has good practices and suggestions.
