I disagree—plain U2F is sufficient for modern usecases. PGP may be venerable but secure software tools are clearly moving in the direction of simpler, more reliable encryption methods. SSH now supports generating keys tied to U2F tokens, and Git recently landed commit signing with SSH keys as an alternative to PGP.
