Why are Templates a more permanent solution than putting files directly into /usr/local/etc?

  • I briefly looked over the backup code on GitHub but don't understand enough to make a judgement. I checked my exported XML and files from /usr/local/etc/ are not included. Do I need to backup templates / config files manually?
