I'm looking for a chat server software that can cluster. The goal is to distribute a few pi4/s or low end vps like proxmox where several if us in our group can run a node out of a cluster so should one node go down we still have all the rooms and chats accessible. Right now we're self hosting rocket chat but it's a single point of failure. Does matrix synapse have the ability to cluster in a private federation outside the matrix.org network. Hopefully I can find something that's easy on resources but modern in features and function with e2e encryption and overall security.

A more technical solution would be to run a single homeserver on a mutli location cluster, something like Kubernetes. There is a helm chart for Synapse if you want to go this way : https://gitlab.com/ananace/charts
