novelWriter
novelWriter is an open source plain text editor designed for writing novels. It supports a minimal markdown-like syntax for formatting text. It is written with Python 3 (3.8+) and Qt 5 (5.15.0+) for cross-platform support.
Other than that, I would recommend the Atlantis Word processor (runs flawlessly in Wine) combined with the CherryTree note app, which is an extremely powerful combo.
ISTR various posts on /r/orgmode by people who've set up Org mode similar to Scrivener. As I'm unfamiliar with the latter, I don't know how these setups compare with the proprietary software. The beauty of Org mode and Emacs in general is of course that you can tweak it to exactly fit your workflow, with as many (or few) bells and whistles as you like.
