  • terraform

    Terraform enables you to safely and predictably create, change, and improve infrastructure. It is an open source tool that codifies APIs into declarative configuration files that can be shared amongst team members, treated as code, edited, reviewed, and versioned.

    I was able to really leverage the cost saving spot instance approach switching between Terraform and AWS Batch (AWS linux for cheapest OS) putting metadata into a MySQL RDS, but this took time to develop wasn't worth maintaining because my projects shifted heavily into analysis, IAM users racking up charges aren't a big worry, and I could just use some Python scripts to start the instances and pass some bash scripts (although this method takes a little longer, it's not worth it for my current role to maintain the prior setup).
