This sounds great! Maybe Mopidy is even a better solution for this. Once configured to use Spotify or YouTube, you never have to login again on the Raspberry.. the user can then choose a Client, ranging from Android apps to Console clients to control playback, create playlists, etc.
“Music Player Daemon (MPD) is a flexible, powerful, server-side application for playing music. Through plugins and libraries it can play a variety of sound files while being controlled by its network protocol.”
I use spotify-tui as it has a nice interface
strm for playing files from remote machines
tyt for playing YouTube videos/music (this is far from perfect and still needs some love)
If you want to stream audio from a service like Spotify or SoundCloud, I can recommend Mopidy as a backend with a commandline frontend like ncmpcpp.
mpv is really the best commandline player. You can throw almost anything at it (e.g. YouTube links, Bandcamp releases, SoundCloud tracks, remote files, ...). It's integration of youtube-dl allows streaming (also only audio) from a LOT of sites.
Looks like I used the 2019.02.14 release, if the most-recent one doesn't work.
If you want to stream spotify, I personally use ncspot

Look what I've found: https://www.pimusicbox.com/ This should perfectly suit your needs..
