I'm working on a game with a friend (using Bevy) and we are going to offer a decently sized demo on Steam (saves transfer over) and also an official pirated version with everything unlocked but with online features stripped (they aren't vital but they will be nice) and using the opportunity to provide ways to buy the game legally and showing when it goes on sale, it's better that we control the pirated version than someone else (also saves will transfer over and they will not be flagged as having used a pirated version before, we don't care). We are also confident our game will be good enough for people to want to pay.
