The vanilla p7zip seems unmaintained for several years, but recently there is a fork which adds the new codecs (just like 7-Zip-zstd). It is not thoroughly tested, but if OP (/u/bo_cletus) has 7z files using Zstd codec, the fork may be able to open them.
