We are part of the RAIN Hub, a project of robotic and nuclear engineers developing robotic and AI technology for the nuclear industry. We are Yannick, Matteo, Simon, Nick and Başak! Happy to take any questions you have - AMA!

This page summarizes the projects mentioned and recommended in the original post on /r/IAmA

Our great sponsors
  • InfluxDB - Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale
  • WorkOS - The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS
  • SaaSHub - Software Alternatives and Reviews
  • ROS

    Core ROS packages

  • A large number of robots are Linux-based and use something called the Robot Operating System (ROS) https://www.ros.org/. If you’re interested in a career in robotics, becoming familiar with Linux and ROS is a great way to stand out. Open-source simulation environments such as Gazebo (http://gazebosim.org/) have loads of tutorials that you can work though which will give you experience developing robotic software. Many of the simulated sensors and robots can be operated as 'hardware-in-the-loop' which means you can swap the simulated version for the real one. This means that your virtual experience (if you don’t have the hardware) is just as good.

  • gazebo-classic

Gazebo classic. For the latest version, see https://github.com/gazebosim/gz-sim

  • InfluxDB

Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale. Get real-time insights from all types of time series data with InfluxDB. Ingest, query, and analyze billions of data points in real-time with unbounded cardinality.
