Thoughtworks have moved GitOps to “hold” on their tech radar due to the complexity in implementing good branching practices. I must say, I quite like GitOps and have not had trouble with branches. What are your thoughts on GitOps?

  • Good catch, it caught me up when I first did this. You can see an issue I filed here https://github.com/argoproj/argo-cd/issues/4231 Even this didn't happen with lightweight tags. Had to make sure Jenkins was checking out the tags as well. But it's a problem you get working once and then move past, as opposed to the problems above which could be an issue on every deploy.
